Suprise !! Ray is now the largest open pit .............
copper mine in north America !! Half a dozen buildings were moved to Kearny AZ about 15 miles away..around 1963. It is so deep that an ore hauler the size of a house. in the bottom of the pit..looks like a child's play truck...:o)

NOT At All what I expected, I thought it was going to be a busy traffic bustling town..I'm glad they moved the buildings though : ]]]]

Close....heading east..out of Phoenix..Superior is 18 mi before Miami..turn southeast from Superior..about 15 or so miles to the Ray mine !!

Thanks. I know about where it's at. I used to haul a lot of copper coils out of that area. I think it's one of the more scenic areas in Az
